Nature Trail

On 22nd March we will be launching our Nature Trail.   At first this will be a simple map, guiding walkers round College, past places of interest.

In time, the guide will be upgraded with items of interest concerning our local flora and fauna, and the route will be marked by information boards.

We will also have specialist walks based on College history and unusual or impressive trees, for example.

So:  watch this space!

March - the sound of Woodpeckers

A walk anywhere in Crowthorne at the moment is almost certain to be accompanied by the sound of Woodpeckers. This area has an abundance of the Greater Spotted variety, identifiable by the bright red patch on the back of the male's head.

Woodpeckers use trees as sounding boards to hammer messages to each other. This clip from BBC's Spring Watch shows how one bird had an even better idea!
