The England Schools Teams have just been selected for the British Schools International smallbore matches that are an annual event between England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands.

England enter 4 teams of 12, a total of 48 shooters who are selected from all the shooting schools in England, they are divided into A,B,C and D teams with the A and B team gaining full Schools International colours and the C and D team gain half colours.

I am pleased to announce that Wellington shooters have filled 17 of these 48 places, just over 35%, a truly tremendous achievement for one school to dominate the shooting environment so much.

Athelings Selection

Oliver Lyon (M) and Andy Brooker (Hl) have been selected for the British Cadet Rifle Team (The Athelings) to tour Canada in August 2012.

This is the highest honour a fullbore rifle shooter under 19 can achieve before selection for GB Under 25 or full GB status. They are both to be congratulated on their selection which is based on their performance in every aspect of shooting over the last 24 months.

British Schools V New Zealand Schools

Many congratulations to Oliver Lyon (M) on his selection for the British Schools Team to shoot against the New Zealand Schools. The team of 10 is selected from all eligible shooters from every school in the UK and potential candidates have to have achieved a high seasonal average and fire trial cards to get selected.

Oliver is to be congratulated on his consistent shooting over a long period and for his resolve to make it through the seletion process.
