POLO

Polo is a very popular sport here at Wellington College.  We firmly believe that Wellington College is the best possible school for you if you want to take your polo seriously.  Not only are we National Champions at several levels, we also enter more teams into more competitions than any other school in the country.  We also host our own tournament, the Copenhagen Cup.  This year the teams that took part were Eton, Harrow, Cheltenham and of course Wellington. This year Wellington beat Eton in the semi-final and then beat Cheltenham in the final to end up as Winners of the Copenhagen Cup 2011! We regularly travel to Argentina, and this Summer even went to China! See the latest photos in the Photo section on the left.

Polo can be chosen as your main sport in all three terms and as an activity after school on a Friday each week.  We currently play on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons, with tournaments on Sundays.  In the Arena Season our top players go to Ash Farm and the novices and intermediates go to Ascot Park.  In the Summer our A team go to Coworth Park and the other 30 or so players continue at Ascot Park.  We allow our top players the time off that they need to play with professional teams outside of school.  Polo can be used as your sport when applying for a Sports Scholarship.

Polo Training takes places during normal games times, plus as an activity after lessons on Fridays (4.30pm to 6.30pm).

There are no fixtures in the Michaelmas term. Lent and Summer term fixtures will be posted as soon as tehy are finalised.

We are developing our Equestrian Facility to enable us to allow pupils to bring their own horses here. This is an on-site facility, not one that needs to be driven to.
