Wellington College Netball Club
Head of Netball: Miss Kate Murphy kxm@wellingtoncollege.org.uk
Netball is the major sport for the girls in the Lent (Spring) term, although they also train throughout the Michaelmas (Autumn) term where each age group are entered in to their County tournaments. There are currently eight new netball courts, ten in total with a double sports hall for wet weather play.
Girls in the 3rd, 4th and 5th form play netball in games time and 6th form girls are encouraged to play netball either competitively or socially. From 2011, we will have 21 netball teams playing competitive fixtures across the year groups. This is the most amount of teams the school has ever had.
Throughout the 2011-12 season so far, the College 1st VII and U16A's have become county champions, going on to the regional finals. The U16's finished 4th in their group and the 1st VII qualified to represent the South in the National Finals on March 17th. A great achievement and a first for Wellington Girls sport! Well done girls!
The 1st VII are also entered in to the Independent Schools Cup and play in this from October.
