Model United Nations
"The United Nations has done a great deal in recent years to change with the times. But today the Organization has come to something of a fork in the road - with one path leading towards true effectiveness, and the other towards an unacceptable status quo. Each of you has an important role to play in helping the United Nations become a better instrument of service to the peoples of the world. I hope you will make your voices heard, build networks of concerned citizens, and work together in a spirit of mutual respect and understanding." (Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations)

The United Nations was created to save the world from the "untold sorrows of war", to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, emanating from a belief in the "dignity and worth of human kind", to establish justice and to secure better standards of life.
(Based on the Preamble of the Charter of the UN)
The world did not become a perfect place at the UN's creation. The UN is still seeking to make a difference and change a world that is full of war, human rights abuses, injustice and poverty.
Over 650,000 people have died in the 'War in Iraq'.
In 1994, 800,000 Rwandans are butchered.
In 2007, uncounted numbers in the
Over half a million children are forced to be soldiers.
They have no course of redress.
MUN is a unique simulation of the United Nations, allowing students to gather to represent the United Nation's member states. During a MUN conference, solutions to the problems faced by the world are proposed and discussed, with intricate diplomacy and debate leading to decisions. If you have an awareness and passion to see solutions to a fallen world, MUN is the perfect opportunity to refine skills and knowledge with like minded people.
Or if you have a slightly more Machiavellian approach to politics then you have found the perfect forum for enlivened debate!
