The course

Wellington College Golf Club is built in the best traditions of the classic Surrey heathland courses, with pine and birch trees framing many of the holes and in some cases having considerable strategic importance! There is some water in play on a few holes, but few forced carries. The course has been designed by Donald Steel and Martin Ebert, one of the premier partnerships in golf course architecture. The different tees offer differing challenges: from the back tees it is a good test for proficient players, while from the forward tees beginners should find more encouragement. The greens are built to the highest specifications, and the whole course benefits from the sandy subsoil of the area, which promotes the growth of the fine-bladed grasses which are best suited to golf.
