Players Code of Conduct

The following protocols must be adhered to by every member of Wellington College Cricket Club. Any breaches of this will be dealt with very seriously.

  • Players must wear the appropriate WCCC clothing throughout matches (WCCC shirt, cap and if required, jumper).

  • Players should encourage their own team but any talk directed to or at the opposition must be kept to a minimum. Players must be silent as soon as the bowler begins his run up.

  • Players are responsible for bringing their own water bottles to matches.

  • Players must get round in between overs in an urgent fashion. There is nothing more frustrating than a painfully slow over rate. Wicket keepers tend to be good people to lead this. We aim for a rate of 17 - 18 overs per hour.

  • Caps must be worn at all times when fielding and shirts must be tucked into whites.

  • The umpire's decision is final. Under no circumstances do we tolerate dissent no matter how terrible a decision an umpire may give. Any such instances must be reported to GDF immediately after the match.

  • Players must sit together as a team and watch the game together, supporting their batters.

  • Players must travel to away games in full cricket whites, jacket and black shoes.

  • Players are encouraged to clap any piece of good cricket but are advised not to shout from the boundary. Any messages that need to get to the batters will be communicated by the captain at appropriate intervals.

  • Players may visit their parents during play but only on permission of the Coach.

  • All players are expected to thank both umpires and all opposing players on completion of the game.

  • Players are responsible for requesting permission (in good time) to miss lessons in the event of an away match and / or 1st XI fixture.

  • Players must uphold the MCC Spirit of Cricket, as below:
