Wellington Summer Camp
20th-26th August 2011
This year 8 Lower Sixth students have raised £6500 to fund a residential summer camp for twenty six 8-11 year olds from disadvantaged family backgrounds at Wellington College in conjunction with the charity CCHF 'All about kids'.
The
Wellington students took part in a gruelling overnight 26 mile walk in June to
raise the majority of money. Although exhausted by the end of the challenge,
students finished the trek in high spirits! Through sponsorship as well as
participating in a variety of other activities including a 3rd Form disco, carnival
and three peaks challenge the students have done tremendously well in raising
the required amount to fund the week. Their achievements, determination and
creativity will enable the children to have a fun packed holiday for five
nights in the Stanley boarding house. The camp will involve five days of arts
and crafts, camping, cookery, sport and adventure tasks as well as trips out to
Bournemouth, Coral reef swimming Pool, ice skating and bowling. Each student
will work with a small group of children alongside a volunteer from the charity
throughout the week. Details of the week are shown on the week programme page.
